With the weather heading back into the freezer here in Nova Scotia I’m keeping it spring-like in my craft studio. Like many papercrafters I’m drawn to floral images and have lots of stamps to choose from. Every time a new Stampin’ Up! catalogue comes out I tell myself I don’t need any more flower sets. And every time I see something that tempts me. The one that broke my resolve in the January to April 2023 Mini Catalogue was Decorative Borders. These gorgeous line art images have certainly not disappointed.

DECORATIVE FLOWERS
I began today’s project as you might expect with an image from the Decorative Borders Stamp Set. I’ve already created cards using the two largest stamps so this time chose the curved floral image. Initially I considered stamping it twice to create a wreath design but then changed my mind.
Instead, I cut two 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ pieces of Very Vanilla Card and also grabbed a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Then using Merry Merlot ink I stamped the image across the bottom left corner of the two card pieces, and on the front of the envelope.
To colour the images I decided to use watercolour pencils without the water. So from the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 I chose Gorgeous Grape for the flowers, followed by Granny Apple Green for the leaves.
Once all three images were coloured I went looking for a sentiment and found what I wanted in the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set. Using Merry Merlot ink once again, I stamped “with deepest sympathy” cradled within the floral image on one of the Very Vanilla layers.
QUICK LAYERS
With the stamping and colouring complete I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Gorgeous Grape Card. Then I mounted the sentiment layer on top using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
For my card base I used my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Merry Merlot Card. After folding it along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.

Opening up the card base I used liquid glue to fix the image only Very Vanilla layer on the inside. Then I attached the assembled sentiment layer to the front. Finally I added three white Adhesive-Backed Milky Dots around the sentiment and my project was complete.
Oh my goodness, such a simple card to make but once again a gorgeous image from the Decorative Borders Stamp Set has proved to be the star of the show. If you haven’t yet got this stamp set make sure you check it out.
