Yesterday I showed you a project using the large floral image from the limited availability Blended Seasons Stamp Set coloured using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. Are you familiar with happy flowers? These are blooms that make you smile whenever you see them. Today I’d thought I’d show you a smaller floral project with the daisy image from the In Every Season Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!
I love daisies, they always make me smile, and never more so when they are great big gerbera daisies. So I pulled out another new product that’s only available in August while stocks last, the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2, and created a pretty gift card envelope.
STAMP AND COLOUR
I began by stamping the daisy image from the In Every Seasons Stamp Set onto a piece of Whisper White Card using StazOn Jet Black ink and then pulled out the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 so I could colour the petals in Gorgeous Grape with a little Night of Navy, the centre of the flowers with Granny Apple Green and a little Crushed Curry, and finally the leaves with Granny Apple Green and Garden Green. Whisper White Card is not really designed to be wet so after applying each pencil colour I blended out the lines using a Blender Pen, being careful not to touch the black outline in case it smudged.
Once the flower was done I cut it out with my Big Shot and Magnetic Platform using the #2 plain-edged die from the Layering Ovals Framelits (counting from the smallest up). While I was there I used the #2 scalloped-edge die from the same set to cut out a piece of Granny Apple Green Card, then fixed the white piece to it with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
THE GIFT CARD ENVELOPE
Next I need to make the gift card envelope using my Envelope Punch Board. I cut a piece of Fresh Fig Card to 5-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and starting with the card on the board at 2-3/8″ punched and scored the piece. Using the reverse punch on the Envelope Punch Board I rounded the four corners of the card, folded it along the scored lines and fixed the bottom flap of the envelope to the side pieces with a little liquid glue.
This project was all about the flowers and to accentuate the colours I used liquid glue to fix a strip of Gorgeous Grape Card to the front of the envelope, followed by a strip of Granny Apple Green Card. I stamped the smaller ‘happy birthday’ sentiment from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set onto a narrow strip of Whisper White Card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then added that on top of the Granny Apple Green strip.
Finally I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the layered flower image and my project was complete.
I really like this colour combination, it’s so fresh. What do you think?
USING THE ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD
If you’re unsure how to use an Envelope Punch Board to make your own gift card envelopes, I created a video showing the process. The card colours and stamp set used are different, but the process is the same.
