My regular readers will know that I like a good pun and cute animal images. So you can imagine how I felt about the “It’s time to shell-ebrate” sentiment in the Turtle Friends Stamp Set. This isn’t the first project I’ve made with this set, but it’s quick and easy and perfect for some simple Sunday creativity.

TAG TALK
I often start my simple tags with a 3″ x 6″ piece of card, scored at 3″ and then folded along the scored line. Today I made the tag base using Soft Succulent Card. Then to turn the mini card into a tag I opened it up and used the Detailed Trio Punch to punch an oval hole just to the left of the scored line.
To enable the tag to be tied to a gift I first cut 6″ of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. Then using a dark Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker I coloured the twine and set it aside for a minute.
Meanwhile I cut two 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ pieces of Basic White Card. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue I fixed one piece inside the tag base and set the second piece aside.
Once the twine was dry, I threaded it through the hole in the tag and tied it in a simple knot. With that my tag base was prepared and I was ready to start stamping.
TURTLE PUN
Taking the second Basic White piece I began by stamping the large turtle image using Tuxedo Black ink. Then inside the shell I stamped the “It’s time to shell-ebrate” sentiment.
I wanted to keep everything really simple so I decided to colour the turtle using Stampin’ Blends. For the shell I used just the light Soft Succulent marker. Then using both the dark and light Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends scribbled some horizontal lines around the turtle’s feet. Finally, for his body I chose light and dark Pale Papaya.
I’d originally planned to just use the sentiment inside the turtle’s shell, but then I noticed the separate “happy birthday”. I had space above the turtle image so decided to include this second sentiment in my design too.
So, using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped “happy birthday” onto a 1/4″ x 2-3/4″ strip of Basic White Card. Then I cut a 1/2″ x 2-3/4″ strip of Soft Succulent Card and glued the sentiment to it. Finally I mounted the assembled sentiment above the turtle and my tag was done.
Oh my goodness, how cute is that gift tag, and it only took me about 15 minutes to make. I hope you like it as much as I do.
