The end of May is fast approaching and so it’s time to reflect on the Stampin’ Up! January to June Mini Catalogue. While technically the sales period for this mini catalogue runs to the end of June, we’ll hear about retiring products much sooner. Unlike previous years, we already know quite a lot simply by looking in the 2021/2022 Annual Catalogue. Some products have been carried over, although many of the discounted bundles have not. But what about the rest? Although there’s a possibility that some additional products will remain available, I’m not sure how likely that is. So while I wait for confirmation I’m making the most of the time we have left, starting with the Treasures Of Life Stamp Set.

WELL SUITED PAISLEY
Today’s project is actually one that I designed for the Stampin’ Up! Canadian Demonstrators newsletter, Inspiration Canada. I’ve been writing articles and designing projects for this newsletter since May 2014 and I love it. Over the past year or so I’ve been concentrating on #simplestamping projects using minimal tools and no complicated techniques. This project using the Treasures Of Life Stamp Set actually looks more complicated than it is and started with some simple layers.
From the Well Suited 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack I chose the grey paisley pattern. I love this design and as works well for both masculine and feminine cards.
To start my project I used my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Smoky Slate Card for my card base. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next I cut a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ strip of the paisley DSP and a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached the DSP to the right-hand edge of the white layer, before fixing the layer inside the card base.

For the Basic White Envelope I cut a piece of the DSP at 2-1/4″ x 6″ and glued it onto the flap. Then with Paper Snips I trimmed off the excess paper using the edge of the flap as a guide.
Finally I cut a 2-3/4″ x 4″ piece of the DSP and a 2-7/8″ x 4-1/8″ piece of Night of Navy Card. Then I mounted the DSP onto the card using liquid glue to create the background panel for my card. However, before adding it to the card front I wanted to add one last detail.
So from the Well Suited Twine Combo Pack I chose the Night of Navy baker’s twine and fixed one end to the back of the background layer with Tear & Tape Adhesive. Then I wound the twine around the layers so they created three diagonal lines with a gap of about 1/4″ between each one. After securing the other end of the twine on the back with more Tear & Tape, I fixed the assembled piece onto the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
TREASURES OF LIFE
With the rest of the card prepared I was ready to start stamping using the Treasures Of Life Stamp Set. For this project I chose the hands image and the “The joy of grandchildren is measured by the heart” sentiment.

Starting with the sentiment layer I first I cut a 1-1/2″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Then using Night of Navy ink I stamped the sentiment in the centre. Next I cut a 1-5/8″ x 2-3/8″ piece of Night of Navy Card and mounted the sentiment onto it with liquid glue.
For the image I needed a slightly larger piece of Basic White Card, and cut this at 2″ x 2-1/2″. After stamping the image I mounted it onto a 2-1/8″ x 2-5/8″ layer of Night of Navy Card with liquid glue.
Finally I attached the two stamped layers to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In no time at all my #simplestamping project was complete.
My regular readers with know that I love the images and beautiful sentiments of the Treasures Of Life Stamp Set. So even if it does retire this is probably one stamp set that I’ll keep for my own personal use.
