As I continue to enjoy precious time with my new granddaughters it seemed appropriate to bring you a new photo album project. While being able to see photos electronically is nice, there’s something special about actually having them printed. Maybe it’s because you don’t have to be sitting at a device to see them. For me though it’s that printed photos reflect life events that are important to those involved.

TREASURES OF LIFE
I began today’s project with a 4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla Card. For my focal image I chose the man and child from the Treasures Of Life Stamp Set. Using Basic Gray ink I stamped the image in the bottom right-hand corner.
Then from the Happy Thoughts Stamp Set I chose my sentiment;
Today is great because it’s all about you – the great person you are, the great things that you do
Once again using Basic Gray ink, I stamped the sentiment in the top left corner of the layer. Then I used a Blending Brush to add some Smoky Slate ink around the edges of the piece, followed by Balmy Blue ink. With that I was ready to colour the image using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
I started with the adult and coloured his coat with dark Crumb Cake in the creases and shadows drawn by the stamp artist. Then I coloured the whole jacket with the light Crumb Cake marker. For his scarf and boots I changed to the light and dark Soft Suede, and used Smoky Slate for his hair.
I wanted both pairs of trousers to resemble denim jeans and so for this I began by colouring them using the light and dark Balmy Blue. Over the top of that I used light Smoky Slate, before adding a second layer of dark Balmy Blue. This colour combination created exactly the effect I wanted.
Continuing with the child’s clothes I used light and dark Real Red on the boots, with Calypso Coral for the jacket. Then the hat and scarf were both coloured using Old Olive.
To finish I used the Ivory Stampin’ Blends to colour the skin on their hands and faces. That just left the ground on which I scribbled horizontal lines in a combination of Smoky Slate and Balmy Blue.

QUICK FINISH
Now the Treasures Of Life image was done all I needed was to create the layers to go underneath.
First I cut a 4-1/8″ x 5-5/8″ piece of Basic Gray Card. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I mounted the stamped panel on top.
Now I was ready for the mini pocket photo album I’d purchased at the Dollarstore a little while ago. I removed the boring front and back cover inserts and measured them. Then I cut two pieces of Terracotta Tile Card exactly the same size (4-5/8″ x 6-1/8″).
I slid one piece of Terracotta Tile Card inside the back cover pocket of the album. Then using liquid glue I mounted the layered stamped piece onto the other Terracotta Tile layer before sliding that into the front cover pocket. With that my quick photo album project was complete.
Now all it needs are some appropriate photographs to reflect the Happy Thoughts sentiment and Treasures Of Life image. Then it will be ready to gift.
