Scrappy Adventure

March 19, 2023 Leave a Comment

Earlier this month I joined the IDEAS Blog Hop where we brought you lots of ideas for using up various scraps. On that occasion I focussed on ribbon scraps, so today I thought I’d remind you about other things you may have lying around just waiting to be used. I’m talking about those background pieces you may have prepared, or sentiments you stamped but then changed your mind. While my pieces are actually leftover pre-printed parts from the Enjoy the Adventure Memories & More Card pack, the idea is universal.

Create this quick birthday gift tag using the Enjoy The Adventure Memories & More Card Pack from Stampin' Up! #papercraftwithme

ENJOY THE ADVENTURE CARD PACK

Lots of the smaller pieces I have leftover eventually end up as smaller layers on my cards. Today, when searching for something completely different, I found this 3″ x 4″ black and white heart card in the Enjoy The Adventure Memories & More Card Pack. It would certianly be perfect for a card layer, however today I was in need of a birthday gift tag so I thought “why not?”.

I began by punching a hole at the top of the card using the Label Me Fancy Punch. Then I cut 6″ of silver cord from the Simply Elegant Trim Pack. After threading the cord through the hole I tied it in a simple knot.

Next in the card pack I found one of the two sticker sheets and removed the “happy birthday” sticker. I could have simply stuck it to the tag but I wanted to add some separation between the two. So instead I put some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the sticker and set it aside.

Then I cut another 8″ of the silver cord and dragged the ends between my thumb and a Bone Folder to separate the strands. After arranging the cord on the centre of my tag I removed the backing from the Stampin’ Dimensionals and fixed the sentiment over the cord.

In less than 5 minutes I had a striking birthday gift tag ready to attach to my gift. So whether it’s commercially printed pieces like I used, or pieces you created but cast aside, they can all find a purpose. Just pull out those scraps and start putting them together. You never know where that adventure will lead!
