Today is Mother’s Day in the UK. It’s much earlier than here in Canada but their daffodils are already blooming. Ours will be a while yet given the rollercoaster temperatures we’re getting. Later today I’ll get to video chat with my daughter and three granddaughters. Meanwhile I shall enjoy my morning coffee from the new “grandma” mug they sent me earlier this week. Today’s simple Sunday project is a “thinking of you” card using three more retiring products including the gorgeous Beautiful Moments Stamp Set. I’ll definitely miss this one.

COLOUR IN MOMENTS

This really was a quick and easy card to put together. First I cut a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Very Vanilla Card as well as a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece. I also pulled out a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope so I could stamp on the front of that too.

From the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set I chose the standing lady and a Basic Gray ink for all the stamping. First I stamped the image at the bottom of the card strip. Then I stamped it in the bottom left corner of the card layer and on the front of the envelope. Finally towards the top of the strip I added the “thinking of you” sentiment.

I really wanted this to be a quick project and decided to use Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to colour in all three images. For her skin I used Ivory, while her hair was Bronze. The dress was simply coloured using the dark Pool Party, and the grass finished off the images in light Shaded Spruce.

TIP – Stampin’ Blends are designed to saturate the cardstock so I always slip a scrap of paper inside the envelope before colouring on them. This prevents any of the ink bleeding through to the back.

A LITTLE EMBELLISHMENT

With the colouring complete I chose Basic Gray Card for the card base. Using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored the card, then folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Next, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer inside the card base.

Turning to the front, I used Tear & Tape Adhesive to attach some retiring Very Vanilla 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim down the right hand edge of the Very Vanilla strip. Then using liquid glue I added this piece to the front of the card base up against the crease.

Finally I added a line of three Pale Papaya embellishments from the retiring Genial Gems Pack. With that my #simplestamping project was done.

As well as the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set I’m definitely going to miss the Scalloped Lace Trim. I don’t recall seeing any lace in the new 2022/2023 Annual Catalogue to replace it. I better just go and take another look…
