Family time is really important to me, even more so as we don’t get the chance to spend as much time together as I’d like. So that makes our video chats and phone calls all the more precious. It’s great to hear all the exciting news and find out what’s been going on in their lives. Just recently I’ve been collecting photos so that I can do a little scrapbooking. But first I needed to create a baby card and I automatically reached for the One Happy Family Stamp Set.

NOT MY FAMILY!
Although it’s not a new baby for my family, my daughter has a couple of friends who she wanted cards for. When the baby’s gender is not known I like to make a baby card with a neutral palette. Today I really kept it simple with a combination of Basic Gray, Gray Granite and Basic White.
First I cut a 2-1/2″ x 3″ piece of Basic White Card. Then from the One Happy Family Stamp Set I chose my favourite “you made a little human” sentiment. Using Basic Gray ink I stamped it towards the bottom of the white piece.
Above the sentiment I stamped the sitting elephant from the Elephant Parade Stamp Set. Then using the light and dark Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers I coloured in the image.
With that done I cut a 2-5/8″ x 3-1/8″ piece of Basic Gray Card and fixed the white layer on top using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I glued the assembled layers onto a 2-3/4″ x 3-1/4″ layer of Gray Granite Card and set it aside.
To decorate the inside of the card and envelope I went back to the Elephant Parade Stamp Set and picked out the small mouse image. Using Basic Gray ink I stamped the mouse in the bottom right-hand corner of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. I also stamped him on the front of a Basic White Medium Envelope. After colouring in both mice with the Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends I was ready to assemble the card.
SIMPLE LAYERS
Sticking with my colour scheme I chose Gray Granite Card for my card base. After cutting and scoring the card on my Paper Trimmer, I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.

Next I cut a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ piece of Basic Gray Card and glued a plain 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card on top. Then I wrapped some Gray Granite 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon around the layers, 2-1/8″ from the bottom edge, and secured it on the back with Tear & Tape Adhesive. Finally using Stampin’ Dimensionals I mounted the smaller elephant layer onto the background layers before attaching everything to the card front.
That just left the Basic White layer with the little stamped and coloured mouse. So I glued this layer inside the card base and my sweet little baby card was done.
You know it doesn’t matter which animal I choose, that sentiment from the One Happy Family Stamp Set just seems perfect. For some more animal baby cards see these previous blog posts:

PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Elephant Parade Stamp Set in a bundle with the coordinating (and unfortunately named) Elephant Dies (not used today). Buying them using the single “bundle” item number saved me 10% off the cost of buying the two products separately. For this reason I’ve included a link to the bundle in case you want to explore that option.
