After a few warm and sunny days, this morning has dawned very differently. Today we awoke to thick fog with a definite chill in the air. Still, it wasn’t all bad because as the light improved we noticed four adult deer enjoying their breakfast that is our lawn. One of the things I love most about living in rural Nova Scotia is seeing the animals that visit our property. So you won’t be surprised they inspired today’s project featuring a deer from the Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack.

STORYBOOK CRITTERS
As well as the gnomes, the Storybook Gnomes 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) actually has lots of other wonderful images. There’s moose, foxes, birds and toadstool houses, as well as a couple of different deer images. So I began my project by using my Paper Snips to cut out one of the deer. This was actually quite easy and I also left a little of the snow for him to stand on.
Next from the Texture Chic 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper pack I cut a 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ piece of a snowflake pattern. Then I cut a 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ piece of Gold Foil Sheet and mounted the snowflake paper on top using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
For my sentiment I chose “Just for you” from the Celebrating You Stamp Set. Using Evening Evergreen ink I stamped it at the left end of a 1/2″ x 3-1/4″ strip of Soft Sea Foam Card. Then I glued it across the snowflake layer, 1/4″ from the bottom edge. Finally I added the fussy-cut deer with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
From here I could have added the panel to a card front, or punched a hole at the top and turned it into a gift tag. Instead I decided to glue it to the top of a Scalloped Kraft Treat Box. Now to find some suitable treats to fill it…
