Sentimental Swirls may just be my latest obsession in stamp sets. This set of photopolymer (see-through) stamps is most easily recognisable from the very large ornate flourish. There’s also two smaller flourishes. But as well as those there are four sentiments (happy birthday, thank you, for you, and hello). Then the other twenty stamps are 10 outline images of a bird, simple flowers and leaves, with 10 solid stamps you can use to fill each image with colour. Today though I was thinking of blue forget-me-nots hand-coloured using Stampin’ Blends.

SENTIMENTAL BACKGROUND
I began with two pieces of Basic White Card, one 3-3/4″ x 5″ and the other 1″ x 5-1/4″. At the same time I also pulled out a Basic White Medium Envelope.
From the Sentimental Swirls Stamp Set I chose the four-petal flower outline and the single leaf outline stamps. Then using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped them all over both pieces of card and the flap of the envelope.
Once the stamping was complete I set to work colouring in the images using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. First I coloured all the flower petals using the light Balmy Blue. Then I went over each petal adding dark Balmy Blue just down one side without bothering to blend. On the leaves I used the same process using light Granny Apple Green, followed by the dark one. Then I finished with light and dark Daffodil Delight in the centre of each flower.
SIMPLE LAYERS
With the colouring complete I was ready to start putting everything together.
Using my Paper Trimmer I first cut and scored some Daffodil Delight Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a basic card base.
Next I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached the stamped strip down the right-hand side. Along the left edge of the strip I then added a 1/8″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic Black Card. Finally I glued the assembled layer inside the card base.

That just left the front of the card to do.
First I cut a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ piece of Basic Black Card and glued the background onto it. Then I attached the layers to the front of the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Next, from the Sentimental Swirls Stamp Set I chose “hello”, and stamped it onto the right-hand end of a 3/4″ x 3-3/4″ strip of Daffodil Delight Card. With that done I mounted the strip onto a 7/8″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Basic Black Card. Once I’d added the sentiment to the background layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals, my project was complete.
