Whenever there’s a new catalogue I go through my old one and write against each item whether it’s retiring or carrying over (R or c/o). Then I double check any products that have neither marking. So that’s how I discovered 12 items that are not in the new catalogue or on the Last Chance List. My feeling is that they’ll join others in the new ‘Online Exclusives’ section of the website, but we’ll only know for sure on May 2nd. The Mini Pocket Envelope Dies is one of those products.

DIES FOR GUYS
While I try to get a definitive answer I decided to create a quick Father’s Day gift card holder. So I started by grabbing another of those ‘missing’ products; the Silver Foil Specialty Pack. After cutting a 4-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the shinest silver in the pack I cut it out using the main die from the Mini Pocket Envelope Dies. Then I placed the foil into the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder and embossed the die-cut piece.
With that done I carefully folded the embossed foil in half and folded in the tabs. Then using Tear & Tape Adhesive I fixed the tabs into place to reveal my rather industrial-looking gift card holder.
For my sentiment I turned to the He’s All That Stamp Set and chose “wishing you a happy Father’s Day”. Then using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped it into a scrap of a grey design from the retiring Sun Prints 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP).
To cut out the sentiment I used one of the dies in the All That Dies set. But then I realised that I’d need to make the sentiment layer a little sturdier. So I found some foil that I’d damaged some time ago but kept in the hope I’d still find a use for it. Well today was the day, and I die cut it using the same die used for the sentiment.
From there things came together really quickly as I attached the sentiment to the back of the die-cut silver foil using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I added four of the larger Rustic Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots; one in each corner of the sentiment. Finally I fixed the completed sentiment to the front of the embossed gift card holder with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my project was complete.
So that’s it for today. I do hope you’ll join me again tomorrow as I begin my countdown to the new catalogue launch with the first of my sneak peek projects.
