One week today it will be Christmas Day and the final rush has begun. No matter how well you plan there’s always those last minute jobs that simply can’t be done earlier. Like buying fresh fruit and vegetables for Christmas dinner. But then there’s the jobs that have been on your list since last Christmas, like making sure you have enough gift tags for the gifts. Or some extra cards to give. Today’s project is one of my final Christmas cards for the year and uses the Peaceful Deer Stamp Set with the coordinating Deer Builder Punch.

TWO DEER IMAGES
This project all began with the Peaceful Deer Stamp Set and the unadorned image of the jumping deer. Using Soft Suede ink I stamped the image onto Sahara Sand Card and punched it out using the coordinating Deer Builder Punch.
Next I created a card base using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Evening Evergreen Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Going back to the Peaceful Deer Stamp Set I next took the deer that was laying down. First I stamped it in the centre of the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Then I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card and stamped the deer at the bottom in the centre. Finally, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed this layer inside the card base and set it aside.
LAYERS OF INTEREST
At this point I decided that I wanted several layers, each providing a specific type of interest.
First I cut a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ piece of Very Vanilla Card and lightly spritzed it with some clean water. Then I placed the card inside the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and ran it through my Cut & Emboss Machine. After giving the card a minute to dry I mounted it onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Soft Succulent Card using liquid glue.
Next I wrapped some Evening Evergreen 3/8″ Chevron Weave Ribbon around the layers and secured it on the back using Tear & Tape Adhesive.
To separate the punched deer from the embossed background I then opted for a layer of Soft Succulent Shimmer Vellum. This was easy to cut out using one of the dies from the Encircled in Friendship set. Using a bit of old sponge I dabbed a thin layer of liquid glue over the back of the vellum and pressed it to the embossed layer. Then I used more liquid glue to fix the deer on top.

PEACEFUL DEER SENTIMENT
For the sentiment I chose “Merry Christmas” from the Peaceful Deer Stamp Set. Using VersaMark ink I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. After removing some stray specks I melted the rest of the powder using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
All I had left to do was cut out the sentiment and for that I chose a small die from the Seasonal Labels Dies. After cutting it out I put Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back and layered it over the punched deer.
Finally I put more Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the completed layers and mounted it onto my card base. With that my project was complete.
I love how this card turned out even though it’s nothing like the card I originally had in my head when I sat down. Sometimes you just have to go where the inspiration leads you don’t you think?
