While I don’t mind creating my own sky effect I certainly don’t mind cheating now and again. The background for today’s bookmark project is one example of that. You might be surprised to find that among all the trees and leaves in the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack is this amazing pattern. It’s a watercolour wash effect that makes adding a summer sky an absolute breeze.

BEAUTY OF THE EARTH
This project really did begin with the sky background from the Beauty of the Earth DSP. I cut a strip 2″ x 5-1/2″ as well as a strip of Basic White Card the same size. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the two pieces together.
I’m still without a tag topper punch so next I pulled out the Playful Alphabet Dies and the die with the two small circles. I placed one half of the die at the top of the assembled card/DSP strip and ran it through my Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Now I had a nice neat circle cut out of the top.
Next I cut three 6″ pieces of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. I folded the pieces in half and poked the three loops through the hole at the top of my bookmark. Then I passed the ends through the loops and pulled gently to secure them in place. All I needed now was to decorate the front.
MEADOW PIECES
With the Beauty of the Earth paper becoming my sky I wanted something to ‘grow’ into it. So I pulled out the Meadow Dies and chose the tall thin flowering plant.
First I used the die to cut out some Mint Macaron Card. Then using a Blending Brush I added a light layer of Soft Succulent ink over the die-cut piece. To add a bit more depth I then went over some of the edges using a light Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker. Finally I attached the stem to the bookmark over towards the left side.

That just left the flowers to brighten the stem, and for these I chose a scrap of Pale Papaya Card. Using the same die I cut out the card and then cut off the individual flowers with Paper Snips. Then I simply fixed them into place on the green stem using liquid glue. Job done.
Even without a sentiment I think this bookmark has a really uplifting feel. What do you think?
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Meadow Dies and Quiet Meadow Stamp Set (not used today) using a single ‘bundle’ item number. This meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. I’ve included links to both options so you can compare these if you wish.
