Today’s the day! Right now until 11.50pm MT you can treat yourself and save 15% off virtually all the cling stamp sets in the Stampin’ Up! 2021/22 Annual Catalogue. Only the Host stamp sets are excluded. I have a few sets still on my wish list so will definitely be taking advantage of this offer. Two sets included in the promotion are Count On Me and Pampered Pets and I combined them to make this sweet gift-card holder…

SIMPLE GIFT-CARD HOLDER
Some time ago I designed a basic gift-card holder that is quick and easy to put together. All I needed was a 3″ x 7″ piece of card and today I chose Misty Moonlight.
After cutting the card I placed it on my Paper Trimmer with the long side at the top and scored it at 3-1/2″. Then with the short side at the top I scored it at 1/4″ and 2-3/4″. Next I folded the card along the scored lines and sharpened all the creases with a Bone Folder. Finally I used Paper Snips to trim off the long narrow sections from one end as shown in my diagram.

To assemble the gift card holder I placed Tear & Tape Adhesive along the remaining long narrow sections. After removing the backing I tucked them in and folded the trimmed end over the top.
Once the sides were pressed firmly and secure, I cut a notch from the open end using the Label Me Fancy Punch.
Here’s a video of my process for creating this style of giftcard holder (although it’s from several years ago and the finished project is different).
A REAL TREAT
Now the giftcard holder was done I turned my attention to the decoration.
For my layers I cut a 2″ x 3″ piece of Shimmery White Card, along with a 2-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Night of Navy Card.
On the Shimmery White piece I used Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the penguin image from the Count On Me Stamp Set. Then I coloured him in using two Stampin’ Write Markers from the Regals collection: Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry. The Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker is the only one in the range available as a single marker.

For the sentiment I turned to the Pampered Pets Stamp Set. I thought “I hope your day is a real treat” was perfect for any gift-card. This time however I used VersaMark ink to stamp the sentiment beside the penguin. Next I sprinkled the sticky ink with black embossing powder from the Basics Stampin’ Emboss Powders pack. Then I tapped off the excess powder and removed some stray specks. Finally I melted the remaining embossing powder using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
Now with everything done I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to mount the completed panel onto the Night of Navy layer. Then I added the assembled layers to the gift-card holder with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my project was complete.
Sometimes gift-cards are what people want when they don’t know what they want. But while they can seem impersonal, I love to give them in a handmade giftcard holder. Just because it’s not a large gift doesn’t mean it can’t be nicely presented. What do you think?
