This morning I have some more retiring products to draw to your attention. Plus a simple technique for getting even more from your patterned paper. The retiring stamp I’ve chosen for today is Layered with Kindness.

ALTERED PAPER
I love most of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Stampin’ Up! but sometimes I get bored. So every now and then I experiment. Today I used an .05 Journaling Pen to add a little dramatic accent.
The diamond design is from the retiring Woven Threads DSP and I started by cutting three pieces. One 6″ x 2-1/4″, one 2-1/2″ x 5-1/8″ and one 3/4″ x 5-3/4″ (the first number is the width).
Then using the Journaling Pen I simply added a black line around each of the diamond sections and any part diamonds.

SIMPLE LAYERS
With the DSP cut and altered I was now ready to begin putting the layers together.
Using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored some Basic Black Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base.
Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the 3/4″ DSP strip down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Card. Then I glued the assembled piece inside the card base.
Next I used more liquid glue to fix the 6″ x 2-1/4″ DSP piece to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed the DSP using Paper Snips using the edge of the flap as a guide.
The final piece of DSP was glued to a 2-5/8″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Purple Posy Card. Then I wrapped some 1/4″ Terracotta Tile ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack around the layers. Once I’d secured it on the back with Tear & Tape Adhesive I mounted the layers onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
LAYERED WITH KINDNESS
All I had left to do was my happy birthday sentiment from the retiring Layered With Kindness Stamp Set.

First I stamped the sentiment onto Thick Whisper White Card using VersaMark ink. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with retiring Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. After I removed some stray specks I then melted the rest with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
To complete the card I used the coordinating Label Me Lovely Punch to punch out the sentiment. Then I fixed it to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I never ceases to amaze me how something as simple as a black line can make such a difference to the look of a pattern. Have you tried this technique yet?
