I really enjoy creating scenes and projects using images of people and/or animals and for that reason I’m always drawn to certain stamp sets. One of my current favourites is the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set which is perfectly named. With eight images and three sentiments I don’t think there’s been one project I’ve made that I didn’t love. Even when they don’t go according to plan.

BEAUTIFUL IMAGES
This project all started with the amazing line drawing of the lady in the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set. I’ve used this image on a number of projects and originally planned to use a paper-piecing technique. In fact my plan was to create a bookmark with it.
I found a 2″ x 3-3/4″ piece of the Petal Pink background pattern from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP). Then I stamped the image onto it using Basic Gray ink. However instead of cutting out the dress for a bookmark, I decided to create a scene using the whole piece of DSP.
Inside the stamp case I found a lady image that previously I’d stamped onto a Full-Adhesive Post-It® Note and cut out with Paper Snips. So I placed this mask over the image stamped onto the DSP in order to protect it.
Next I took my Blending Brushes to colour the scene using ink. Along the bottom I coloured the DSP with Mossy Meadow ink. Then I changed brushes and coloured the rest of the DSP with Balmy Blue ink. Next, coming in from the edge, I added Misty Moonlight ink over the Balmy Blue. Finally I darkened the edges of the blue area using Night of Navy ink.
With that done I removed the mask to reveal the lady and the original colour of the DSP.
EASY COLOURING
To make the lady stand out I chose Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers but without doing any actual blending. On her hair I used the Bronze marker, while I coloured her arms using the Ivory. Then I used the dark Mossy Meadow marker to colour in the leaves on the stalks, and darken a few of the stalks too.
While I liked the scene so far I thought that her arms and dress were a little too bright. So I went back to my Blending Brushes. Using only the ink still left on the brushes I went over her arms with the ‘blue’ brush. Then I went over the bottom of her dress with the ‘green’ brush. This was much better and I set the piece aside while I worked on the rest of the card.
SIMPLE LAYERS
This card was always going to be about that beautiful image and I wanted to keep the rest of it really simple. So I went back to the Peony Garden DSP and chose a really subtle grey chevron pattern. Then I cut three pieces.
The first piece was 2-1/4″ x 6″ and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed it to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then using Paper Snips I trimmed off the excess using the edge of the flap as a guide.

Next I cut a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ strip and glued that down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Whisper White Card. Then I glued the assembled layer inside a card base made from Night of Navy Card.
Finally I cut my last piece of DSP 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ and glued that directly onto the front of the card base.

For my “Thinking of You” sentiment I went back to the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set. Using Night of Navy ink I stamped it onto a 1″ x 4-1/8″ strip of Whisper White Card. Then using liquid glue I mounted it onto a 1-1/8″ x 4-1/4″ strip of Night of Navy Card, and then directly onto the card front.
That just left the stamped and inked scene to add. So I cut a 2-1/8″ x 3-7/8″ layer of Night of Navy Card and glued the image onto it. Then after adding it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals I was done.
Oh my goodness this may not have been the project I originally set out to make but I simply don’t care. I love how it turned out. What do you think?
