Today’s project is another from my 2020 World Cardmaking Day personal challenge that I haven’t yet shown you. This get well card has a very simple layout with a punny sentiment from the Special Someone Stamp Set. To add interest I used the coordinating Special Day Dies and also the Balloon Bouquet Punch.

SUBTLE LAYERS
This project was really all about the two-part sentiment, so I decided to keep the rest of card quite subtle.
I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base.
Next I cut a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ piece of Very Vanilla Card. Then I sponged a little Seaside Spray ink around the edges to create a hint of ‘sky’ for the background. With that done I mounted the layer onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Soft Sea Foam Card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I fixed the assembled layers to the front of my card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For my balloon I decided to use Highland Heather Color Velveteen Paper, and punched it out with the Balloon Bouquet Punch. Taking the larger of the two balloons I tied some Linen Thread to the neck and fixed it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I could have left the string loose but instead used a couple of rolled Mini Glue Dots to hold some of the curls in place. Then I set aside the smaller punched balloon to use on another project.
I was almost ready to get stamping but I knew I had a challenge… I wanted to use the speech bubble from the Special Day Dies, but have two of them facing in opposite directions. To do this I needed to die-cut the two shapes from Soft Sea Foam Card first. Then I flipped one of the die-cut speech bubbles over so I was looking at the ‘back’ of the card shape.
SPECIAL SOMEONE
Now it was time to pull out the Special Someone Stamp Set.

First I used Tuxedo Black ink to stamp “this balloon is special” on the die-cut piece with the pointed section facing left. Then on the other piece with the pointed section facing right I stamped “it’s filled with heal-ium!”. Placing the sentiments was simple to do as I could see right through the photopolymer stamp onto the card pieces beneath.
With that done I added the two sentiments to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
All I had left to do was decorate the inside of the card and the envelope, and for that I went back to the Special Someone Stamp Set.
Using Highland Heather ink I stamped the balloon outline image on the left side on the front of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Then I stamped the string image below it using Crumb Cake ink. Finally I inked up the solid balloon image and ‘stamped-off’ onto some scrap paper to remove a little of the ink. Then looking through the stamp I stamped inside the balloon outline image to colour it in.
Finally, I copied the design from the envelope and stamped the balloon and string on a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Very Vanilla Card. Then I finished the project by using liquid glue to fix the stamped layer inside the card base.
In no time at all my masculine / gender neutral get-well card was complete.
I really love the Special Someone Stamp Set and hope that it won’t be on the Retiring List that will be revealed by Stampin’ Up! next week.

Tracy, this is a great card from this awesome stamp set. I love the sponging you did to give some texture to the background and the purple velveteen balloon must be wonderful in person and for the recipient to touch. Very clever!
Thank you Hilda. I love Velveteen Paper (and embossing folders) they’re great for creating projects for people who like to touch.
