A few days ago I had great fun jazzing up some Post-It® Notes using some of the Paper Florist Dies. This amazing set doesn’t coordinate with any stamp sets, so it could very easily be overlooked in the Stampin’ Up! 2023/2024 Annual Catalogue. There’s 18 dies in the set and I’m having a lot of fun discovering all the flower shapes I can create with them. Today’s elegant congratulations card project is very different as I set out to make a mainly white card with just a touch of silver.

FLAT FLORIST DAISIES
I started this project very simply with a plastic pocket full of scraps of Basic White Card. From the Paper Florist Dies I first chose the long die with alternating x and + shapes. Just by looking at this die I knew I’d probably want to stack the shapes so I die-cut 5 sets altogether. Then using a Blending Brush I added a light layer of Smoky Slate ink to all the pieces.
Next from the Paper Florist Dies I chose one of the small square dies which appeared to be an overlapping x and +. I cut one of these, followed by four tiny circles using another of the square dies.
From there I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to assemble the pieces into flat daisies. With a tiny dot of glue in the centre, I stacked three of the larger x pieces together so lower ‘petals’ peeked out between the upper ones. Then I repeated this process with the smaller + pieces, once again using three to create each flower.
For the centres I glued a tiny circle onto each of my three small daisies. However for the large flower I thought the circle by itself looked a little lost. So that’s when I reached for the small die-cut x+ piece and glued that to the centre of the large flower. Then remaining small circle went on top of that.
As I started thinking about how to arrange my daisies I decided they needed something else. Looking back at the dies I thought the various leaves were too big for what I had in mind. However the circular bobbled sun-ray dies definitely showed promise. So I used it to cut three shapes from scraps of bright Silver Foil. Having done this I actually wasn’t keen on the circular shapes, but by cutting them into pieces they were perfect. All I needed was to glue the pieces behind the daisies.
BEST FAMILY STAMP SET
All that white and silver reminded me of weddings and so next I went looking for a congratulations sentiment. I found one in the Best Family Stamp Set which I got very recently. Using VersaMark ink I stamped the sentiment onto some Basic White Card. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with silver powder from the Metallic Embossing Powders pack. After tapping off the excess, I removed a few stray specks and melted the rest using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).

While the embossing was cooling I cut two pieces of Basic White Card, one 3″ x 4-1/4″ and one 4″ x 5-1/4″. Then from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders pack I chose the crosshatch folder and embossed the smaller of my two white pieces. Turning to the larger piece of Basic White Card I embossed just the bottom inch. Then to finish I embossed the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope.
Now I needed an A2 card base and I used my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Thick Basic White Card. After folding it along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Then I glued the larger of the embossed Basic White layers on the inside.
Turning to the card front I cut a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ piece of Basic White Card and glued the small embossed piece on top. Then using Stampin’ Dimensionals I added the assembled layers to the card front. After that came the large daisy in the bottom left corner, followed by a small daisy in the top right. I finished off by tucking the two remaining small daisies under the larger one using liquid glue.
Finally I cut out out the sentiment using the long die from the Something Fancy Dies set. Once I’d attached it to the embossed layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals my elegant congratulations card was complete.
