This morning I was in the mood for some colouring and fussy cutting. I have lots of stamp sets with line-art images to choose from so it took me a few minutes to decide. In the end I opted for another stamp set I haven’t used in a while, By My Side. The three people in this set are all linked to animals, but they’re easily separated with some masking before stamping, or scissors afterwards. Sadly By My Side doesn’t include a birthday sentiment but Go To Greetings solved that.

SIMPLE GREETINGS
I began by choosing the boy and dog image from the By My Side Stamp Set. However I only wanted the boy today and would save the dog for another project. After stamping the image onto a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card with Tuxedo Black ink I coloured the boy using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
First I coloured his skin and hair with the Ivory marker before adding Bronze to his hair. For his T-shirt I used light and dark Lemon Lolly, and dark Shaded Spruce on his shorts. Finally I coloured his feet with the Bronze marker so he looked like he was wearing shoes. With that done I cut out the boy with my Paper Snips and set him aside.
Next from the Go To Greetings Stamp Set I chose the smallest of the three “Happy Birthday” sentiments. After stamping it onto a scrap of Thick Very Vanilla Card with Tuxedo Black ink I used my Paper Snips to cut around the two words.
NO-HOLE TAG
All I needed now was a tag base and for that I turned to the Stylish Shapes Dies. From the set I chose the #4 and #5 circle dies (counting from the smallest up) and cut them from Thick Very Vanilla Card.
Before assembling all my pieces I just wanted to add a little colour to the smaller die-cut circle. So I did that using a Blending Brush and a Starry Sky ink pad.

From there it all came together very quickly. First I put a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional on the back of the inked circle. Then I cut a 6″ piece of Starry Sky 1/8″ Metallic Woven Ribbon. After removing the protective backings from the Dimensionals I began to fix the smaller circle onto the larger one. Just before pressing down the final Dimensional I slipped the centre of the ribbon behind it. This allowed me to add the ribbon with out needing to punch a hole. To make sure it didn’t slip out I tied a simple knot that ended up hidden behind the top layer.
That was the trickiest part of the project done. Then I used pieces of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the boy and the sentiment to the inked layer. With that my sweet birthday gift tag was complete and it’s inspired me to make a more feminine one. I show you that another day.

Such a cute idea for anyone. I think I would add longer ribbons so the birthday person could where this tag around their neck for the day!
Thank you Vicki, what a great idea!
