It’s the end of another month and we’re edging ever closer to the release of the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Holiday Catalogue. Today’s sneak peek project is a simple bookmark using the new Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set.

PREPARATION
I began with a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Thick Whisper White Card, shaped at the top using the Delightful Tag Topper Punch.
I wanted to create a subtle background for my deer image and so started by stamping it on the bookmark using Soft Suede ink. Then I stamped it again onto a Full-Adhesive Post-It® Note (purchased at Walmart). Next I cut the deer from the Post-it Note using my Paper Snips to create a mask. Finally I placed the mask over the deer on the bookmark to protect it while I sponged the background.
SIMPLE SPONGING
Using some Stampin’ Sponge I very lightly added some Seaside Spray ink to the top two-thirds of the bookmark. Then with Smoky Slate ink I added some shadows on the snow using the torn edge of some scrap paper to create soft lines.
With the sponging complete I was ready to add the bare bushes from the Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set. I inked up the stamp using Soft Suede ink and stamped-off onto scrap paper before stamping it slightly overlapping the deer’s hind quarters. I reinked the stamp, stamped-off once more, then stamped part of the image beside the deer’s front legs.

It was now time to remove the mask and reveal the deer. It was really only at this point that the subtle sponging became really noticeable. It really does look like a crisp early morning.
That just left the Crumb Cake twine from the Nature’s Twine pack. I folded two pieces in half and threaded the loops through the hole at the top of the bookmark. Then I threaded the ends through the loops and pulled to secure them in place.
I love how this bookmark turned out and I can see a set of these created using the fox and rabbit images from the set.
NATURE’S BEAUTY
The Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set is gorgeous with simple line drawn images that are perfect for stamping. You can colour them, or not, and they would still look amazing. If you look at the 2019 Holiday Catalogue you’ll find this set on the inside back cover.
It’s also a very special stamp set for another reason. For every Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set sold in Canada Stampin’ Up! will donate $4CAD to mental health organisations in Canada. Let’s hope we can raise lots of money for this very worthwhile cause.
