If you saw my Papercraft With Me Facebook page over the weekend you’ll know that the remnants of Hurricane Lee visited us here in Nova Scotia. As expected we lost power for a time during Saturday and there was nothing to do but ride it out. As well as reading, I spent time in my craft studio. Without power I couldn’t use my Heat Tool, but everything else was available to me. So I decided to create a wedding card while getting the shining gold from paper, ribbon and embellishments.

SHINING BRIGHTLY
The paper I chose was from the Shining Brightly 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. There’s three gold foil patterns on a Night of Navy background, and the same three patterns on Very Vanilla background. For today’s project I went with the leafy design and started by cutting a 6″ x 6″ piece.
From that piece of DSP I cut a 2-1/4″ x 6″ strip and attached it to the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I removed the excess paper with my Paper Snips using the edge of the flap as a guide.
Next I cut the remaining DSP into two so I had one piece 3-3/4″ x 5″ and one 3-3/4″ x 1″. Using liquid glue I mounted the larger piece onto a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ layer of Very Vanilla Card. Then I wrapped some Gold & Vanilla 3/8″ Satin Edged Ribbon around the layers (1-1/4″ from the top) and secured it on the back with Tear & Tape Adhesive.
At this point I decided that my A2 card base should be made from Thick Very Vanilla Card. After using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score the card I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Finally I glued the small strip piece of DSP at the bottom of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card.
WONDERFUL MOMENTS
Now I needed a couple of sentiments from the Wonderful Moments Stamp Set along with an Early Espresso ink pad. First I stamped “This is only the beginning of a life filled with love” onto the Very Vanilla layer with the strip of DSP at the bottom. Then using liquid glue I added this layer to the inside of my card base.

Next I stamped “Congratulations” onto a scrap of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then to cut it out I chose the smaller of the ‘oval’ dies from the Something Fancy Dies set. However, even though I could have left the sentiment straight, I decided instead to cut it out an an angle. Just to be different.
Then in the space above and below the word I added some gold pearls from the Festive Pearls pack. Once they were pressed firmly into place I aattached the sentiment to the ribbon wrapped layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally, using more Stampin’ Dimensionals I mounted the assembled layer to the front of the card base and I was done.
Although the Shining Brightly Specialty DSP is part of the O Holy Night Suite it’s really not just for Christmas. With a choice of gold foil patterns on a navy or vanilla background it suits virtually any occasion you can think of. I’ll definitely have to buy more of this paper while I still can!
You’ll find another project using a different sheet from this gorgeous paper pack in my earlier blog post Shining brightly.
