One of the fun things about collecting stamp sets is being able to mix and match them. Some sets like Lighthearted Lines only contains sentiments, so if I want an image I have no option than to look elsewhere. But other times I find fun new combinations as I combine older sets with newer ones. Today’s simple Sunday card project is a case in point. Lighthearted Lines has some great fun sentiments but one in particular stood out and I knew exactly where to find an appropriate image. So out came the slightly older (but still available) Senior Years Stamp Set and I set to work.

LIGHTHEARTED LAYERS
I began with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Then from the Lighthearted Lines Stamp Set I selected the sentiment “To a person who’s still got it …but might not remember where they put it. Happy Birthday”. Using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped my sentiment in the bottom right corner of the card leaving room on the left for the image.
Next, from the Senior Years Stamp Set I took the image of the lady and stamped her beside the sentiment. She would be my coordinating feature, so I stamped her again in the same place on a second 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Finally I stamped her one last time, in the same place on the front of a Basic White Medium Envelope.
All I had to do now was colour in the three images using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.

For her top I chose Fresh Freesia, while her skirt became Just Jade. Her hair was quick and easy in Smoky Slate, and I added Ivory for her her hands and face. Notice the colour split in the right lens of her glasses… the very first time I coloured this image she looked quite weird when I coloured that whole section ivory.
For her earrings I decided to go with dark Crumb Cake, while the light Crumb Cake marker was used for her legs and the ground. Finally I finished off her glasses and shoes with the Bronze marker while leaving her pearls uncoloured.
SIMPLE ASSEMBLY
Once all three images were done I just has to put everything together, but first I needed a card base.
So using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored some Just Jade Card (to coordinate with her skirt). Then I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached the piece with the sentiment to the front of the card base. Once I’d glued the second Basic White layer to the inside of the card my project was complete.
I have to say I love how this card turned out. With the lady on the left side of the sentiment her outstretched arm seems to be emphasising her point. What do you think?
Well that’s all for today, it snowed yesterday evening and has started snowing again now. So I think it’s a day to stay in and be creative. I hope you’ll join me again tomorrow for another new papercraft project.
