This morning got off to a slow start after I woke up with back ache. Fortunately some gentle exercise has resolved it and I can now get on with the rest of my day. First I needed to make a “congratulations” card for a wedding I’ll be attending at the end of the month. I wanted the sentiment to be elegant and so immediately reached for the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set. I’ve used this set a few times, but today I finally realised I should have bought the coordinating dies!

DREAMY DAISIES
Before getting to the sentiment I started with the more decorative part of the card front. So from the Cheeful Daisies Dies I chose the largest of the three nested daises. One die cuts a solid shape while the other cuts and embosses the top layer. After cutting them both from Basic White Card I used a Blending Brush to add some Bubble Bath ink over the ends of the detailed petals. With that done I set the pieces aside while I cut the remaining parts of the flower.
For the flower centre began by tapping a Blending Brush onto the surface of a Pecan Pie ink pad. Then I tapped the brush onto a small scrap of Basic White Card which resulted in an interesting textured effect. All I had to do was cut out some of the inked area using the tiny flower centre die.
That just left the foliage and I kept it simple, using the delicate die to cut two pieces from Soft Sea Foam Card.
To assemble the daisy I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). First I fitted the flower centre behind the space in the centre of the detailed petals. Then I glued these two pieces on top of the solid die-cut flower. Finally I glued the foliage to the back of the assembled daisy and set it aside.
Now I turned to the Cheerful Daisies Stamp Set to create the coordinating features for the project. I began with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. First I inked up the small daisy outline image using Basic Gray ink and ‘stamped off’ onto some scrap paper. Then I stamped the outline in the bottom right corner. Next I inked up the matching solid daisy stamp with Bubble Bath ink, stamped off and then filled in the outline image. Finally I used the small flower centre image and stamped that with Pecan Pie ink (also stamped off to make it a lighter shade).
With that done I repeated the process to stamp the daisy on the front of a Basic White Medium Envelope.
WONDERFUL THOUGHTS x2
At last I was ready to stamp my sentiments from the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set. I began with “This is only the beginning of a life filled with love”. I wanted this for the inside of the card, so stamped it onto the Basic White layer with the daisy in the corner.

Next I cut and scored some Thick Basic White Card for my A2 card base. After folding it along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Then I glued the Basic White layer on the inside.
Turning back to the main design I cut a 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″ piece of Basic White Card and embossed it using the spotty folder from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders pack. Just to be different I applied glue to the raised side before mounting it onto a 3-3/4″ x 5″ layer of Bubble Bath Card. Then I wrapped some White 3/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon around the layers (1-1/4″ from the bottom), securing it on the back using Tear & Tape Adhesive. Finally I added the assembled die-cut daisy with liquid glue.
I still need the main sentiment and so I returned to the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set. After stamping “Congratulations” onto some Thick Basic White Card (using Basic Gray ink) I decided it covered too much of the daisy. That’s when I remembered I’d opted NOT to get the coordinating dies! There wasn’t much I could do except cut out the sentiment by hand.

Having done that I fixed the sentiment into place with pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I added a few Irridescent Pearl Basic Jewels and my wedding card was finally complete.
