Some days run smoothly and others not so much. The way my morning’s gone so far I have a feeling today’s going to turn out to be a little on the bumpy side. Still, it’s not all doom and gloom. When I got home yesterday there was my new Stampin’ Up! 2023/2024 Annual Catalogue. Yay! So I’m using that as my treat between tasks. There’s nothing like a little incentive to focus the mind. But first here’s my card project, combining two retiring stamp sets; Inspired Thoughts and Decorative Borders.

DECORATIVE START
This is one of those projects that just kind of happened. I wanted to give the retiring Decorative Borders Stamp Set one final outing and reached for my Very Vanilla Card scraps. In the packet I found a piece that when I measured it was 3-5/8″ x 4-3/8″. So with no real idea in my head I decided to start there.
Using Crumb Cake ink I stamped the curved image from the Decorative Borders Stamp Set across one corner. Then I set to work colouring the image using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers; dark Petal Pink for the flowers and retiring dark Mint Macaron.
It was only then that I started to look for a sentiment and settled on the retiring Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set. In the end I chose “sheltering you with love at a time when words fall short”. As I looked at the stamped layer I couldn’t work out where I was going to stamp the large sentiment, but then I had an inspired thought! If I turned the card I could have the floral spray curving over the sentiment, sheltering it if you will. With that, I stamped it into place using Crumb Cake ink.
Now the orientation of the floral spray was decided I knew exactly how to create my coordinating features. So I stamped the image onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Very Vanilla Card in the top left corner to match the front of the card. On the Very Vanilla Medium Envelope I stamped the image a little lower, to leave space at the top for the return address. Now the spray would curve over the main address details. Having stamped the two images I simply coloured them is as before.
QUICK FINISH
Keeping with my colour scheme I decided to cut some retiring Mint Macaron Card as a mat for the sentiment layer. I cut the card at 3-3/4″ x 4-1/2″ and mounted the sentiment on top using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).

Then using my Paper Trimmer I cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Crumb Cake Card and with the long side at the top I scored the card at 4-1/4″. After folding the card along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base. Then using liquid glue I fixed the larger Very Vanilla layer on the inside.
That just left the sentiment layer and I thought it wouild be nice with a little bling. So I added three of the retiring Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Then I attached the assembled layers to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my card was complete.
