Some time ago I posted a video with a tip for using just the small hole part of the Label Me Fancy Punch. I’ve had lots of feedback about that tip from paper-crafters who found it really useful. However it was only as I was creating today’s simple Sunday project that another helpful tip for that punch popped into my head. What’s most surprising is that it’s very similar to a tip I’ve already posted for the Very Best Trio Punch. Sometimes it’s the most obvious solutions that escape us.

LABEL ME LOVELY
But before I get to that tip I first had to create the basic tag. For that I began by punching out some Thick Basic White Card using the Label Me Lovely Punch. Then using a Blending Brush I added a light layer of Starry Sky ink over the surface of the punched piece.
Next, from the Brightest Glow Stamp Set I chose the “Tis the season” sentiment and stamped that with Starry Sky ink.
Finally from the Peaceful Deer Stamp Set I chose a couple of the small pine tree images. Using Shaded Spruce ink I stamped the two sets of trees onto the punched piece. With that the inky part of the design process was complete.
LABEL ME FANCY
Now to turn the punched piece into a gift tag I needed to add a small hole, and that was where the Label Me Fancy Punch came in. As usual I reached for a pencil and ruler so I could mark the centre line of my project and get the hole in the right place. But then it occurred to me that I could use a piece of grid paper to make the this process quicker and easier.
So I cut a 2″ piece from the edge of some Small Grid Paper with a darker line at the 1″ mark. Then using Tear & Tape Adhesive I fixed it to the bottom of the punch, lining up the darker line with the centre of the hole. In fact I cut the paper larger than I needed so that the grid lines would also wrap around the side of the punch. This way I could see them whichever way up I used the punch.

After that little detour I placed the stamped piece into the Label Me Fancy Punch and punched the small hole. Then I threaded 6″ of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack through the hole and tied it in a simple knot. Finally I added three small Rhinestone Basic Jewels and my quick Christmas gift tag was complete.
Have you ever thought of a simple tip for using a tool and wondered why you’d never thought of it before?
Here’s the earlier punch tips I mentioned. Yu can also find these and more on my Papercraft With Me YouTube Channel).
