A couple of weeks ago I created a birthday gift tag that I just loved. It featured the boy from the By My Side Stamp Set simply coloured and then cut out. There was something about that project that just kept drawing me in and I said it had inspired me to make a feminine birthday tag. I’d forgotten all about it until I opened the By My Side Stamp Set this morning and found more of the images that I’d coloured back then. That made today’s project super quick!

BY MY SIDE
For today’s project I chose the girl and butterfly image from the By My Side Stamp Set. Back then I’d stamped it onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Card using Tuxedo Black ink. Then I coloured her dress using the light Starry Sky Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker.
For her skin I chose the SU700 Medium Light Stampin’ Blends from the Natural Tones range. After colouring I left it to dry for a minute, and then went back with the same SU700 to add a little shading around her face.
Next I scribbled SU200 Deep Stampin’ Blends in little circles over her hair, leaving some tiny uncoloured areas for definition.
Finally I coloured the butterfly using the light and dark Poppy Parade, and that’s where I’d stopped.
So today I simply had to cut around the girl and butterfly with my Paper Snips. That just left the background and sentiment for me to do.
BEACH SCENE
From the Fresh As A Daisy 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack I cut the beach scene from the multi-panel sheet. Then I simply die-cut from that piece using the largest flat-topped die from the Tailor Made Tags Dies. I also cut some Basic White Card using the same die before fixing them back-to-back using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).

Next I attached the fussy-cut girl to the beach scene using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I added the butterfly a little further up with a little liquid glue.
For the sentiment I chose the smallest “happy birthday” from the Go To Greetings Stamp Set. After stamping it onto a scrap of Basic White Card with Tuxedo Black ink I cut around the words using my Paper Snips. Then I used pieces of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to add them to the scene.
Finally I cut 6″ of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. After threading it through the hole, I tied it in a simple knot and my sweet birthday tag was complete.
Oh my goodness, how amazing it this tag! I’m so glad there’s some of the beach scene left. Now I want to copy this tag layout to make a birthday card. Watch this space…
I used the same two stamp sets for the boy birthday gift tag mentioned earlier. See my earlier blog post Birthday greetings for all the details.
