Today, November 14th is World Diabetes Day, and a day that I felt the need I had to mark. At the age of 23 our son Russell was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and immediately went onto a regime of daily insulin injections, quickly progressing to 4 per day. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the pancreas causing it to produce little or no insulin. This means that the body is unable to process glucose. Despite active research there is currently no cure ... VIEW POST
If A Hug Were A Snowflake
Have you ever looked at a stamp set and thought “what on earth is that?” If you’ve done that recently I wonder if it was while looking at the Beautiful Blizzard Stamp Set. It’s a really simple set with 5 lovely greetings and some snow and snowflake images. Then there’s two images that I can only describe as ‘splats’. So for today’s simple Sunday project I thought I show you one of those splats in action. My project actually began with a piece of Thick Whisper White Card that I cut and ... VIEW POST
Rooted In Nature Christmas Trees
Don't you just love it when you can get more out of your crafting tools. When buying stamp sets I try to think about how they might be used in different ways, for example as Christmas trees. Rooted in Nature was one that appealed to me for a number of reasons. The images can be used for masculine and feminine projects, and they vary in scale. They also compliment other stamp sets that I have, like Lovely As A Tree (and now Winter Woods too). Of course one of the challenges is remembering ... VIEW POST
Beautiful Blizzard On A Frosty Morning
Ooh yesterday was chilly! We had our first frost and it was well into the morning before the sun melted it away. Luckily our tomatoes and peppers are in the greenhouse so I've still got time to harvest them. It was a reminder though that autumn is here and winter won't be far behind. I suppose it's only fitting then that I chose yesterday to ink up my new Beautiful Blizzard Stamp Set. This stamp set and the coordinating Blizzard Thinlits Die are simply stunning with a variety of snowflake ... VIEW POST
Scrappy Day Pearlised Leaves
As someone who crafts every day, I need to be able to find things quickly. One of the key things for me is keeping my scraps organised and easily accessible. I have a number of ways that I do that, but more importantly I make a conscious effort to use them. Today's project is chock full of scraps, including some of the pearlised leaves I created a few days ago. TAG BASE My Night of Navy tag base started out as a piece of card from my card scraps tin. I only needed to trim 1/4" off the ... VIEW POST
Shimmer Paint and Snowflake Sentiments
For my final sneak peek from the Stampin' Up! 2018 Holiday Catalogue I decided to experiment. So I pulled out the new Frost White Shimmer Paint, some white and coloured card, and ink refills. I had really no idea where this was headed so I turned on the camera and just started filming. SHIMMER PAINT It didn't take me long to realise that I love this Shimmer Paint. Although it will also be available in Bright Copper, Champagne Mist and Vegas Gold, the Frost White has me hooked. I'm sure the ... VIEW POST
